Furniture Polish Protects the Fine Furniture | Another Myth Deflated by Green Cleaning Products

Green cleaning products – what is the best product for the application?  This is a common search that we pursue in our efforts to achieve the sparkling clean we seek.  It is not always easy to find the information to know if we are in fact achieving a safe, green clean.  There is so much misinformation that it hard to know what myth is and what truth is.  Unfortunately in the world of cleaning sometimes the myth will result in doing more damage than good.

Furniture Polish Enhances Wood

Pablo Neuda: You can cut all the flowers, but you cannot keep spring from comingAs Pablo Neuda has stated, “You can cut all the flowers, but you cannot keep spring from coming.”  Similarly we continue to do as we are trained.  From my childhood training from my mother, I was taught to “Use furniture polish on your wood with every single cleaning.”  Sadly this turns out to be a myth!

Furniture polish is an important part of a cleaning arsenal, but do not pull it out every time.

Furniture polish is great for keeping wood furniture healthy and new looking.  That said, polishes tend to contain oils which can create a sticky film that attracts dust.  Over time, it can also cause a buildup that is hard to remove.  Furthermore, the interaction between the polish’s chemical composition and the wood may even dull the finish.  No matter which product is selected, with its formulation (even DYI and natural products), use it only once in a blue moon for the ‘polished’ look and to keep wood furniture looking fresh.

In between polishing, consistent dusting may be enough to keep the wood looking good.  Nothing more than a clean microfiber duster is required.  Microfiber dusters attract the dust from the furniture without pitting or scratching the surface.  They do not leave any type of buildup or chemical residue.

Fluffy Microfiber Duster by CleansGreenThe Fluffy Microfiber Duster by CleansGreen® is a highly popular cleaning solution for your fine furniture.  As Georgia states: “This is the best duster EVER! Dusting is my least favorite job of all and I put it off as long as I can. When this duster arrived, I dusted my whole house in less than half the time it normally takes!

I love it so much that I bought one for my daughter’s wedding shower. While she wasn’t exactly excited about getting a cleaning gadget instead of something from her gift registry, I know that she will appreciate it when she uses it. I highly recommend this product (even though dusting is still my least favorite job, lol).

Easy to clean your home with pro commercial design details: lightweight fuzzy puff, soft, non-scratchy to touch large head, yet skinny and slim enough to get into tight and small spaces; compact size to store in storage, ergonomic handheld grip handles, angle flexible wire spine for maneuvering, threaded wand for your extension pole, no disposable replacement refills to trash!

Furniture Care Recommendation

The best advice is to use what is recommended by the manufacturer and use it sparingly. Most fine furniture will benefit from regular dry dusting using a microfiber duster.
