A dish soap made with natural ingredients is an available option for your sink to keep the grease away and your dishes sparking clean, yet is gentle on your hands … and the earth.  To avoid an undesirable toxic chemical residue on your dishes, we recommend you shy away from petroleum based products such as the more popular Palmolive, Joy or Dawn dishwashing soap.

Dawn, Palmolive, and Joy are some of the more popular products for dishes that are actually detergents are made from petroleum products and consist mainly of surfactants, foaming agents and alcohols.  Since these chemicals have a disagreeable odor, detergents are usually heavily scented with cheap, synthetic, artificial fragrances.  Detergents also contain preservatives and antibacterial agents so that they do not spoil. All these chemicals are frequent causes of allergic reactions, penetrate far below the surface of the skin, and reside in your body tissues.  The most common type of preservative (parabens) was recently found to be present in breast cancer tumors. While this does not mean that these preservatives actually cause cancer, their presence in the tumors is disturbing enough.

Additionally study released in 2008 by the Organic Consumers Association found detectable levels of 1,4-dioxane, a probable human carcinogen that is a byproduct of the manufacturing process,  in four of the green dish soap;  those made by Seventh Generation, Ecover, Method, and Earth Friendly Products.

When seeking a safe, green, and eco friendly soap for washing dishes look for one made with natural products that requires very little energy in the production process. It is possible to manufacture dish soap without having leftover byproducts that tend to go to the landfill.  Also consider the importance of using a biodegradable soap that flows down the drain while washing dishes.  Some common features you want of natural green home cleaning products for your dish washing are non-toxic, biodegradable, free of phosphates, hypo-allergenic, not tested on animals, safe for septic systems.  Additionally the product is concentrated and the packaging is recyclable.

Green Cleaning Products hand dish soap looks like Palmolive, Joy, or Dawn dishwashing liquid, but has no heavy scent in it to mask the chemicals.  It cleans just as well using enzymes in lieu of soaps and chemicals.  With natural green home cleaning hand dish soap you no longer have to worry about that because they contain no chemicals at all leaving no residue behind.  Separating food from toxic chemicals enables us to achieve the green, safe, clean we seek.

There are many biodegradable and non-toxic dishwashing detergents on the market. They perform as well as those that have more toxic ingredients. With a nontoxic soap for hand dish washing, you can achieve the desired results of clean dishes without a chemical residue.
